Missions
Both as individuals and as a congregation, we have been given a mission to accomplish. A distinguishing mark of this congregation is its commitment to making Christ's love known through concrete action. Here are some of the ways we do this:
2nd and 4th Tuesday Banquet Along with other River Falls churches, we help serve a free hot meal at St. Bridget's Catholic Church every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. To volunteer to help serve, cook or clean up, please contact the church.
Brazilian Health Mission- Barb de Souza An ordained member of our congregation, Barb runs a series of healthcare clinics in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We support her through our prayers and financial gifts.
Fair Trade Coffee Cloudforest Coffee, which is for sale at the church, is grown by small, independent farmers in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Selling their coffee at Fair Trade prices improves their very marginal income and can make a huge difference in their lives. Cloudforest Coffee is also environmentally friendly as it is organic and shade-grown. It is a delicious, high quality coffee, and at $9.50/lb it is a very good buy. Contact the church office for more information.
Feed My Starving Children Every second month, we go to the Eagan location to pack meals to be sent to starving children around the world. The work is easy and there is just a 2-hour time commitment. See the website or the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall.
Habitat for Humanity Whether building a house here in River Falls or along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, our church members are active in Habitat for Humanity. For the latest build and schedule, contact the local Habitat Office in River Falls at (715) 425-5623.
Honduras Mission Teams of folk from UCC churches, including ours, travel to Honduras each July and January to build houses. For more information, see the website or contact the church office.
Journey House Campus Ministry (UWRF) An ecumenical outreach to students and faculty at UWRF, Journey House offers Bible studies, meals, mission trips and a place to belong when far from home. Please contact Yvonne Wilken, Campus Ministry Coordinator, (715) 425-2391.
Simpson Homeless Shelter in Minneapolis A long-standing mission outreach, we supply volunteer meals and funding for this shelter in South Minneapolis. For more information, contact the church office and see the website.
